The first BLACKSOULS game has a lot of areas and it’s difficult to keep track of them and remember their exact contents.
This post is an overview of all areas you can find in the game with some necessary information and other descriptions that the player will definitely find useful.
Contents
- 1 Holy Forest
- 2 Forest of Abandoned
- 3 Behemoth Ranch
Holy Forest
The Holy Forest is the beginning area of the first BLACKSOULS game, it works as a safe zone to which you will always return.
There you can find the Prayer Master, which is the only NPC that allows you to level up and he also sells some necessary items.
The Holy Forest is a place where your companions will stay once you befriend them.
There are a lot of random fairies flying there which you can either kill or rape.
Also if you want to replay H scenes, there’s a book that leads to the Room of Reminiscence, where you can replay scenes you unlocked.
In the northern part of the Holy Forest, you can find a statue that’ll show how many times you died and there you can increase or decrease the game’s difficulty. Next to the statue is Black Chaplain Ezwald who can forgive 1 sin for 5000 souls.
At the northern part of the Holy Forest, you can also find Leaf for the first time, a fairy who’ll become your main companion.
Companions are summonable in combat, and she’ll always be next to every bonfire in the game.
In the western part of the Holy Forest, you can find a desolate place where the Fairy C resides along with a booth and a bench. Some companions will settle in this part once you acquire them.
In the southern part of the Holy Forest, you can find a small beach area. This area is important to visit when you level up a companion to the 30th level or higher because this will activate a special scene with them usually playing in the water (naked, but it’s censored if you have H scenes off).
This area leads to: Forest of Abandoned, Room of Reminiscence, Path to Lower Layer, Observed River, Behemoth Ranch

Red Hood’s House
Red Hood’s House is an area that covers the outside and inside of Red Hood’s house. This is one of the areas that’s taken straight from Red Hood’s Woods, a game in the BLACKSOULS series focused on Red Hood and her adventures.
When you enter the house you will be greeted by a normal-looking house interior, although the table in the living room is cracked for some reason. You can go upstairs – there are 2 rooms there. The left room is empty and in the right room, you will meet Red Hood for the first time.
Her dog and dear companion, Poro, will appear later in the house.

Graveyard Town Elixir
Graveyard Town Elixir is a ruined town you can get to from the Path to Lower Layer area.
The town is also a graveyard at the same time, wherever you turn you will see graves and ruined houses. The town has been abandoned by human beings as now only deadly monsters with humanoid appearances reside in it. You can enter some of the houses.
When you pass the ruined residential area you will stumble upon a part of the town protected by large stone walls. There you can find more houses, more mini-graveyards, and a large cathedral. Entering the cathedral will lead you to the Cathedral area, and entering the first house on the right (the house with two doors) can lead you to Black Arbiter Hein.
The enemies in the town are annoying and should be avoided. Exploring the houses isn’t the best thing to do since they are just full of enemies.
You can reach the Great Wilhelm Bridge in two ways, there are 2 paths on the western side of the area, one on the lower part and the other one on the upper part of the area. By going northeast you will get to the area’s bonfire and further up is the Skeleton Maze Entrance.

You can meet Miranda in the Tainted Bog a little bit below the fog that leads to the fight with Lust Demon Satyr. Miranda will come to chase you once you have 5 sins or more. You can find the Undead Drake Helkaiser around that part of the area too if you killed the rotten version already.
If you go around the bottom part of the area you will find an opening that will lead you to the southeastern part of the area where you can find Princess Frog, and a bonfire beforehand. Roaming around Princess Frog’s lair are plenty of frogs, and one of them is Heinrich, who is a character from Red Hood’s Woods.

Despite being called a maze it’s not hard at all to navigate in – when you reach the upmost northern part of the area you will be able to see 3 entrances that lead further into the area.
Before those 3 entrances, there’s a hole at one of the dead ends that leads down to a place where you can find Saint Catherine, and her guards (Saint’s Guardian Ox and Belior) in demonbeast forms. You have to go there if you want to save Catherine.
The far east entrance leads to a waterfall where you can find the Foolish Prince after you defeat the Singing Bone. The entrance in the middle leads to Shaman Keto who can help you revive Jeanne.
The far west entrance leads to an outside part of the area.
At the top of the area outside, you can find Iron Hans once the Singing Bone has been defeated. When you descend into the lowest part of the area you will encounter a fog that leads to the Singing Bone, and after that you will be able to reach the Empty Beach.

It’s just as its name says, it’s just an empty beach, but there’s a middle part of the coast that extends through water, and at the end of it, you can find two pillars and a hexagram that’s described as a “strange magical formation”.
The hexagram will allow you to reach Underwater City Atlantica if you have the Invitation to Atlantica (that you can find in Snow White’s castle).
If you trigger the hexagram by interacting with it while having the Invitation to Atlantica, the water level in the Empty Beach area will lower and you will be able to enter Atlantica by going down the stairs.
The Empty Beach will look significantly different after all this, and you will be able to get the Spell Stoneplate Ring that’s in the northwest part of it. You will also be able to see Clock Croc roaming around in front of the Skeleton Maze entrance if you progress a bit in the game.

When you go right you can also head down and knock down a tree that will make it quicker for you to get to that part. There’s also a chest with a Herb Flask there.
The other part of the Forest of Abandoned leads to a pretty open area full of randomly placed furniture. Right by the entrance you can meet Tortoise Knight Adaman, he’s sitting on a sofa. You can go right to get to the Sea of Trash, there’s a sign placed by Dorothy that warns you to not go there.
If you go left you will end at another part of the Holy Forest, and if you go up and left you can find the Talking Flower, who offers you a Herb Flask in exchange for 5000 souls.

This area is important for getting to the Abandoned Tent where you can find Goose after she robs you. It also leads to the Forest of Sabbath, and Trashlord Kraken before the entrance to the forest – beating that boss is important for getting a crucial item for reviving Jeanne.

When you enter Rotten Burg from the Sewers area, you will be greeted by a woman-turned-werewolf who went mad because of the fog. She will come towards you, and you will be in a fight with the Werewolf enemy.

Fort Ivern
Fort Ivern is one of the first areas you encounter because you were there with Jeanne in the prologue of the game.
The area is full of Iron Knights who are guarding it, and they can be quite bothersome to deal with. You should check the scattered items there because they have useful stuff such as ore shards, souls, master keys, and etc.
If you go all the way up, you can encounter Drake Helkaiser, who killed you in the prologue. But that’s only possible if you haven’t killed him yet because it’s possible to do it literally right in the prologue.
Where he’s supposed to appear, you can find Jeanne’s Ashes, which you will need when you’re about to revive her.
Going left from there will lead you to a crossroad.

In the Helsa Desert you can find the Thunder Stoneplate Ring, Hornet Ring, and the Partisan.
This area leads to: Underpass

Garden of Snow
The Garden of Snow is one of the very few snowy areas in the game. It has plenty of annoying enemies that aren’t easily avoided, but it also has some interesting things, such as the mysterious mirror at the bottom of the area.

This area captures the interior and the exterior of the castle.
When you enter the Snow White Castle you will be able to notice a lot of frozen NPCs, you can talk to most of them. The castle’s interior is normal for the most part, on the ground floor in the northwest part there’s a library that leads to the Rabbit Hole, and a white rabbit will be there for a bit.
The entrance to Snow White’s basement is on the southwest part of the castle, there are stairs that lead underground. You can go upstairs straight from the main hallway.
Upstairs is the throne room, a room with the Invitation to Atlantica, and a room with three red chests – in one of them you can find the Andor Sword. The upstairs also has an exit that leads to the balcony.
On the balcony you can find Snow White’s Prince, he turns Herb Flasks into Herb Flasks M.
But you can also go to the castle’s roof, and find a chest with the Mageslayer’s Ring.

Wonderland
The Wonderland is one of the most interesting areas in the game. It’s full of random stuff and it’s generally harmless. You can avoid most fights and use them for farming Ore Chunks by killing the Dark Matter, and you can get a lot of souls by killing White Rabbits.
The pink rabbits you can find everywhere are great and you should approach them because they will give you very useful stuff such as Matches and great souls you can consume.
If you try to return to the Rabbit Hole by climbing up the stairs you will just be stopped from going up.
The tall light blue tower leads to the Riverside Bank area, while the northeast path goes to the Finished Tea Party.

Finished Tea Party
The Finished Tea Party is a small area you can get to by going through Wonderland. There you can find the Talking Rafflesia, Bandersnatch, and a lot of rabbits. You need to solve Bandersnatch’s riddle to get further, to Alice’s Library. The way you can solve his riddle is by refusing to answer by backing out of the dialogue options.
The Finished Tea Party area is just like its name suggests, a finished tea party. There’s a large table in the middle of the area, the table has a lot of teacups and a yellow bear plush on it.

Alice’s Library
Alice’s Library is an area inside the Finished Tea Party. It’s a library belonging to Alice and it’s nearly identical to the one that appears in the prologue of the game.
In the library, you will meet Alice-02 for the first time.
The fairytales you get while playing the game can be put on empty bookshelves in Alice’s Library. Filling the bookshelves and talking to Alice-02 is crucial for Ending C.
The door at the northern part of the library will be unlocked after you fulfill certain requirements. That door leads to the Kill area.

Kill
Kill is an area with a weird name that you can access by filling all bookshelves in Alice’s Library with required fairytales.
There you will have to fill more bookshelves with other very important fairytales – and that will unlock a switch ready to trigger the C ending.

Holy Forest [Ending C]
The Holy Forest gets significantly disfigured during Ending C. The area is full of lava and random objects that definitely shouldn’t be where they are – everything looks so chaotic, just like it’s the end of the world. There’s only one way to leave the area, as all other usual paths are blocked.
You will be in the eastern part of the Holy Forest at first, but once you come into the main part you may see some NPCs you know from before (if you didn’t kill them of course).
Ezwald is now sitting on a sofa near the entrance of the area, the Prayer Master is at his usual spot, and Victoria can block your path to the northern part of the Holy Forest.
The northern part of the Holy Forest is even more disfigured but there are no random objects in it. You will see Leaf and the Three Fairies bullying her, but other than that most of this part remains the same (to some extent).
If you go northwest you will find the entrance to the hidden part of the Holy Forest.

Gathering of Black Souls
Gathering of Black Souls is an area only accessible by triggering the Ending C. You will get to it by exploring the northern part of the now-ruined Holy Forest.
It’s not broken as the Holy Forest is during this ending, and on your way there you will be able to possibly encounter Miranda and Lindamea – it all depends on certain conditions.
