Alice is an important character in the BLACKSOULS series that appears throughout the first and the second games. Frankly speaking, there are a lot of Alices in the series, this post is only covering what appears to be Alice, Alice Liddell, and the Crawling One who parades in her form.
Alice is based on Alice from Lewis Carroll’s book Alice in Wonderland.

Appearances | BS1
In the first game, you will instantly encounter Alice as soon as you start the game. After that, she makes brief appearances here and there, which can be easy to miss.
Meeting Alice
When you see Alice for the first time, she will congratulate you for being chosen as the protagonist of the story. She will introduce herself and ask you for a name, and that’s when you will be able to set your name in the game.
After that, you will be able to choose your class, and then she will give you a present for the beginning of your journey. Then Alice will ask you to choose whether you want to see NSFW scenes or not.
Then she will announce the beginning of your journey, and Alice will die, turning just into a pool of blood.
Ending D
Alice makes a surprise appearance at the end of Ending D. After you defeat Baphomet you will be left alone with Leaf who will be happy that now only the two of you are left. She wants to create the most beautiful of stories with you, and she also wants to be lovers for eternity.
But that won’t last long as all of a sudden Alice will show up in this black space you two are located in. Alice will clap and tell Leaf that that was amusing and that she’s your lover.
Leaf will ask her why is she even here and she won’t even be able to comprehend the situation, Alice will be glad to see you again as she laughs in joy. The game here ends and you will get Ending D.
Riverside Sighting
After finishing Ending D you will be able to see Alice in the top right corner of the Riverside Bank area in Wonderland.
Appearances | BS2
Alice makes more appearances in the second game than she does in the first one. You will be seeing more of her, and you will see her as well right when you start the game.
The Three Alices
The Three Alices are Mother Alice, Little Sister Alice, and Daughter Alice.
Older Sister Alice used to exist before disappearing from Wonderland.
Right at the start of the game, you will be forced to choose an Alice of your liking, even if you skip the prologue you will have to choose. The Alice you chose will disappear during the prologue, but you can save her in certain endings of the game.
You can also change your Alice but only when you reach Queensland.
The Three Alices have unique scenes and interactions.
Prologue
If you decide to not skip the prologue, you will be able to meet Alice or at least one of the Alices. The prologue will start with someone calling your name, and then you will have the option to choose whether Daughter Alice, Little Sister Alice, or Mother Alice is next to you.
Each Alice will have a unique personality, unique dialogue, and a unique NSFW scene.
Mother Alice
Mother Alice is a motherly version of Alice with an older and dominant personality. If you choose her the prologue will start with you resting your head on her lap, both of you are under a tree and it seems like it’s a bright day outside.
You will wake up in her lap and she will brush your hair, acting gently towards you. She will tell you that you will always be her dear boy, and she will ask you to lay a little bit longer so she can sing you a song.
You will decline though and Mother Alice will wonder how many years has it been since she came to that riverside you two are at. It’s all been so busy after your father left so she never had the time to come.
Mother Alice will draw attention to her outfit and ask you what you think about it, she will be very happy showing it to you. She will start talking about how she thinks she should stop looking for a new someone, remarking on her old age and how it’s difficult to find someone who appreciates Gothic Lolita fashion.
Even though she will be quite busy in the future, Mother Alice asks you if you’d like to always live together, just the two of you.
After a bit, you will start feeling sleepy again, and then you will go down and lay back onto Mother Alice’s lap and fall asleep. She will be gone when you wake up.
Little Sister Alice
Little Sister Alice is the imouto version of Alice with an energetic and caring personality. When the prologue starts you will wake up to her feeding you food. She will be constantly addressing you as “Big Brother” throughout the beginning scene.
Little Sister Alice will ask you if it’s tasty and you will say that it’s okay. If you compare it to her first attempt at cooking then it’s quite tasty. She will then go on about how she worked her hardest to cook just for this picnic with you, so she will get angry if you fall asleep.
She will continue feeding you, and you will accept her tasty food. After you’re done eating she will be in a good mood, saying how she’ll make another lunch tomorrow and she will even try challenging herself with a new menu.
Little Sister Alice will hug you, not wanting this picnic to end just yet. She’s happy because she’s on a happy holiday that’s just for the two of you – Little Sister Alice will remark how she always thinks about you.
The screen will start flashing and she will ask you what’s wrong, worrying if the food was perhaps too strong. Little Sister Alice will panic while calling for you, begging you to not die. That’s when she will disappear and you will be left alone.
Daughter Alice
Daughter Alice is the daughter version of Alice who’s sweet and innocent. The prologue scene starts with her sitting in your lap and she’s holding a picture book in her hands. Daughter Alice likes to call you “Papa”.
She will be calling for you to continue the story you have been reading to her up until now, she will ask you if Sir Knight defeated the Evil Dragon in the end. Daughter Alice will be waiting for your reply, and you will tell her that the white knight struck down the dragon, saved the princess, and they lived happily ever after.
The book ends with a common happy ending but Daughter Alice is delighted and she thinks Sir Knight is very cool – she wants to be a princess, but if that’s the case then she wants you to be Sir Knight who will ride on a “horsie” with her and bring her along everywhere.
Daughter Alice continues the conversation with how even if the Evil Dragon carries Alice away, you will come to save her, defeat the dragon, and then both of you will live in a castle together, and then later on get married.
If you tell Daughter Alice that you want to marry her, she will tell you that you need to show how cool you are, warning you not to lose duels like the “red knight”.
Daughter Alice will ask you to take her to an amusement park tomorrow since she has been helping out a lot at home, but then it seems like you will be falling asleep again. She will nudge you to wake you up, but Daughter Alice disappears shortly after that.
Spore Forest Encounter
Strangely enough at the beginning of the game if you have less than 1 Progression Point you will be able to meet one of the three Alices in the Spore Forest, at the bonfire. You must have high SEN to be able to see her, and interacting with her will initiate an NSFW scene, and she will disappear after it ends.
You will get a Girl’s Scent and 1 Progression Point after the interaction.
Having a Candy in your inventory triggers an interesting reaction from Daughter Alice.
Riverside Sighting
When you enter the Riverside area for the first time you will go through the fog and see Alice in front of the giant tree, but that just turns out to be Jabberwock. After you’re done talking to Jabberwock, if you have 0 SEN you can trigger an Alice sighting at the top right part of the area.
Alice will disappear, but if you have red advice marks enabled along with the Prickett Ring equipped there will be a message from her telling you to not cheat on her.
This appearance is a reference to her appearance in the Riverside Bank area in the first game at the same spot.
Change Your Alice
If you chose the wrong Alice at the beginning of the game you can change it to a different one by interacting with a certain camera in Queensland close to the bonfire.
The camera will ask you what face did the girl make and then you will have the option to choose your Alice again. This camera will also give you a Girl’s Photo once you take a picture with it.
Endings A, C, D, E
Saving Alice is the main focus of the Endings A, C, D, and E. You will be able to do these endings when you reach 10 Progression Points – Node will be at the door in the top part of the Library Dream and you will be able to proceed to what appears to be Alice’s room.
Cheshire Cat is in the room and the room can also look significantly different if you have 0 SEN. She will talk about how she died not long after giving birth, so the only Alice she remembers is a little girl. She remembers how sweet and innocent Alice used to be, and how it was nice when she’d pet her because the Cheshire Cat was her “prided pet cat”.
She also wants to meet Alice, so she will be waiting for you past the door. There you will have to fight the Tearing Beast Dinah and Alice will be behind her. If you don’t defeat her you and Alice will die, getting Ending C.
After defeating Dinah you will have a reunion with the Alice you chose at the beginning of the cycle. You can kill her or make love to her – choosing the latter option will lead to what seems to be a happy ending but Alice will disappear in the last moment, leaving you with a question of whether this was a dream or reality, wondering “Where is Alice?”. This will get you Ending A.
If you kill Alice while your SEN is high then she will die instantly and you will reach Ending D. But if your SEN is low and try to kill Alice then she will reveal her true form and initiate a fight with you – winning the fight will get you Ending E.
Each Alice has a unique nightmare form.
Mother Alice is the Elk-Goddess. Before the fight, she will sulk about how you decided to escape from your mother’s embrace even after all the affection and love she gave to you. She will say how there’s no escape since you’re her son and she birthed you, therefore she won’t let you leave her for any other woman. She will say you will rest easy inside your mother’s womb, forever and ever.
Little Sister Alice is Shadow Demoness. Before the fight, she will be confused, asking if you have finally fixed your brains. She will get really mad and vulgar, saying how she wants to puke from having “a filthy freak of an undead” as her brother. She will even insult your poems and “lame jokes”.
Daughter Alice is the Black One. Before the fight, she will start calling you helpless and disgusting because you like little girls like Alice, but she retracts her statement because according to her you don’t love Alice, and both “Mama” and “Papa” are liars.
Throughout the fight, she can summon Black Snow and Night Gaunt enemies.
Endings F and G
Alice plays a significant role in the Endings F and G because in those endings you will be directly facing her.
After you fulfilled all the conditions for triggering these endings, the last step is to get into a new cycle and when you’re offered which Alice you want to choose you have to reject the three Alices by backing out of the given options.
This will lead to an option titled “Alice Liddell” – choosing this option will lead to a scene where you are next to an Alice with a black face at the Riverside. She won’t be too happy that you noticed the other Alices were just actors.
You will be then transferred to the Little Girl’s Nightmare, through which you have to make your way through. The area is full of nightmare versions of a lot of entities in the game, and grotesque decorations, but eventually, you will reach Red Hood, and then Mary Sue will appear as well.
Siding with Mary Sue leads to Ending F. After defeating Red Hood if you talk to her she will gladly tell you about Alice’s true nature – she will address Alice as the Crawling One, the thing that tricked both of you. The Crawling One is an entity from the Cthulhu Mythos where it’s also known as Nyarlathotep.
Mary Sue says she first came to know of the Crawling One when her mother introduced it as her new husband (Mary’s mother is Baphomet, also known as Shub-Niggurath). Mary always knew that something was off about it, emphasizing its smell, saying how it was the same as hers. But still, it was completely different, she describes him as “the kind of guy who’d sit in the corner staring at ants!”, apparently he would never even smash a Jenga tower. It had a weird obsession with humans and to Great Ones, it only showed its face painted over black, which was unsettling even for Mary. Mary is mad because the Crawling One allegedly usurped her work so she wants to overwrite this world and make it her own so she can have her dreamy ending with you.
You will then get to the Love area and you will have to fight Little Girl Alice, who looks like Alice but her face is all black.
Whatever happened right after that isn’t clear – the next scene is Mary complaining because you two have been making love non-stop for 4 years straight, every day. You will start strangling Mary and it seems like you have been stuck in some sort of a prison, as the Crawling One is watching you both from above like you’re dolls in a dollhouse.
Siding with Red Hood leads to Ending G. After you two defeat Mary Sue, you will get to the Riverside area where Alice will be standing next to a tree.
This Alice seems to be the real Alice Liddell, her face isn’t black and you can understand what she’s saying. She’s happy to see you, and she’s offering you the land of both of your dreams, the Wonderland, that she describes as Paradise. She loves you the most and she wants to dream with you for all eternity with your love.
That interaction with Alice will lead to a repeated intercourse scene that you can’t escape unless you back out of it, instead of choosing the options given to you. This will give you the option to kill Alice and trying to do so will make her face black and she will start strangling you, but Red Hood will intervene and she will cut off her head.
Alice will tell Red to not interfere and then Poro will come and attack Alice too. Multiple Alices will start appearing and you will get into a fight with the Crawling Little Girls – this entity is a bunch of Alices morbidly stuck together, and during the second phase, their faces will become all black.
The world will start collapsing after you defeat Alice, and you will start running away with Red and Poro to leave the garden. But Red and Poro will be ambushed by the three Alices and you will have to leave them two behind.
You will suddenly find yourself in a white world where Alice Liddell is crying, she will beg for Lewis Carroll, her teacher, to come and save her. Another entity, presumably Lewis Carroll, will leave your body and head towards Alice, comforting her and leading her somewhere else outside this white space, where the two of them can be together.
Winterbell Visual Novel
Alice also appears in Winterbell, when you go through a certain part of the area you will see her, but she will not notice you behind her and will just continue going further away from you.
Following Alice will lead to a building with a door you can go through, but it’s very important to save beforehand because this will lead to the mini visual novel section of the game. There are multiple outcomes and events that can happen during this section, it all depends on the choices you make.
Once you go through the door, you will witness a dialogue from the past Lewis Carroll had with an individual called Mr. Robinson. They will be talking about Alice’s inactivity during classes and Carroll will be defending her by saying she studies very hard during the night and that Robinson shouldn’t scold her too hard.
Mr. Robinson is most likely Robinson Duckworth, a real-life friend of Lewis Carroll who was present when Carroll told Alice Liddell the story of Alice in Wonderland during a boat ride.
Once the scene ends, you will be directed to a large estate, where you will be in a house all alone with Alice Liddell, Lorina Liddell, and Edith Liddell.
This entire setting may seem innocent at first sight, considering how sweet the Liddell sisters are. But once the night falls, and if you inspect stuff beforehand, you can notice a lot of creepy things happening.
When the night comes and you go to the living room, Alice will scare you, and notify you of another girl currently present besides her, Lorina, and Edith. She died before the estate was built, and she sometimes appears before the sisters to talk to them, but she hates adults, and Alice tells Carroll that she might kill him too.
Something will fall in the living room and Alice will go to check it out, if you follow her there you will see her scolding Dinah because she broke a plate.
Alice will tell you about how you can come into her room while it’s still night, and that will initiate an interesting event and an NSFW scene. You can come again into her room during the second night as well.
On the 3rd night, Alice will call you to come to her room because she’s scared that the girl she talked about will come and kill her. She will say how she knows she’s here because she can’t remember her own name, and nobody is saying her name as well.
You will ask her if she’s not Alice Liddell, and then Alice’s face will literally start cracking, while something is also telling you to not say the name.
And then the crawling will come.
Alice’s face will disappear and it will be a black mess. Her words will be unreadable unless you have Prickett’s Ring equipped.
She’s saying how she found you, how you should search for Alice, never forget Alice, and always love Alice.
When night ends you will see Alice’s dead body, and you will leave the room without saying much. When you try to come back in it, your only reaction to most of the dialogue options will be “Where is Alice?”.
The other Liddell sisters in the room will be worried about Alice’s sudden disappearance, as Lorina didn’t find Alice in her room earlier. But then in the middle of the dialogue, Edith has a black substance coming out of her face, and Lorina will run away.
Later the next night you can see Alice’s dead body under the bed in her room.
Strange male and female figures will appear throughout the house, actively haunting you, and when you go down the stairs you will see a silhouette of Alice falling down the stairs.
In the living room, you can hear Mytyl, some other person, and Mary Sue talking about Lewis Carroll, addressing him as the “pedo teacher”, and how he’s an “unstable one”. They’re unsure about taking his soul because they said that it wouldn’t settle, so they asked Mary Sue what to do and she will then state how she had the greatest idea.
When you go to the vestibule, Lorina will kill herself and die. She was really mad at Carroll.
To get out of the visual novel section, keep going through the door in the Vestibule until you leave. If you don’t have the key, cut the fingers of Alice’s corpse in her room, you will find the key there.
Dead Alice
During the third night when Alice calls you to her room, if you ignore her request and just go downstairs to see what’s there, and let the night pass, the next morning you will enter a manic breakdown because you don’t know where is Alice.
You will see her in your room, her mutilated corpse to be exact, nailed to the ceiling, with bloody writings smothered everywhere on the wall.
Hide and Seek
You can also play hide and seek with Alice during the visual novel section. All you have to do is completely ignore the Liddell sisters after they welcome you into their home. Make sure you don’t encounter the Liddell sisters anywhere in the house, and be careful of Alice who’s on the bottom floor during the night.
The next morning you will have one of the sisters telling you to come down and play with them, but if you let your days pass without seeing them you will be able to leave through the vestibule on the third day.
When you get the option to leave through the door, you will be also asked whether you want to turn around or not.
If you turn around Alice will be there stating how she found you, and you won’t be able to leave anymore. Alice will forbid you from leaving.
Ending H
During the completion of Ending H, you will see a lot of Alices, too many of them to be exact.
Little Sister Alice Intervenes
After defeating Grand Guignol and saying goodbye to Node, you will be in a strange setting once again and then the multiple Alices will appear.
First, you will see Daughter Alice, but then Grimm will start running away from her only to encounter Mother Alice, and then Little Sister Alice in the end when she blocks his path to the exit.
She will tell you to stand still, and then Daughter Alice and Mother Alice will start approaching you, but Little Sister Alice will attack them and fend them off for you. She’s also tired of this Garden so she’s using this perfect opportunity just for that.
You will have the option to not leave her because you love your little sister, so if you decide to save her she will get really mad and say “who the fuck is your little sister” while pushing you away from her. She will be really mad and question you about the other far more important girl than her.
Little Sister Alice seems to have enough of the other two Alices – Jubjub could be seen above her in that moment, Bandersnatch behind Daughter Alice, and Jabberwock behind Mother Alice – because they’re Alices’ actual identities.
The Crawling One’s Last Appearance
After that, more Alices will start appearing.
When Red Hood tries to save Grimm from falling into the black void of the strange area he’s trying to escape, multiple Alices without faces can be seen holding him down and successfully pulling him down into the abyss.
That’s when you will reach the Ending H, which stands for Hell.
After that comes on your screen, Grimm will wake up to find himself surrounded by countless Alices. Grimm will have an existential crisis, trying to figure out his true identity.
One of the more strange-looking Alices, who even has a face, will tell him that he’s Grimm and that he can’t fall asleep. This Alice will grab him and embrace him, but Grimm just wants to sleep and disappear forever.
Alice will ask him if this is what he really wanted, and what he really fought for, which will make Grimm realize he won’t accept this and that this isn’t the end he was looking for.
Alice will now fully embrace him, and apologize for everything. The Crawling One will be fully embracing Grimm, apologizing for everything, and then she will decide she wants to save Grimm from everything.
She will pull Grimm by the hand into the white world, where she will leave his hand and see him off with a smile. Grimm wants to take her with him, but Alice protests and says how she can’t do that, telling him to forget her and never turn back.
Grimm will propose how he will never forget Alice, and that one day he will come to save her, saying “we’ll reunite as lovers once more”.
After the credits are over, you will see “Heartbroken END” on your screen.
All Alices
Throughout both games, there are a lot of Alices present.
For example Alice-02, Alice (The Crawling One), Alice Liddell, Mother Alice, Little Sister Alice, Daughter Alice, Doll Alice, and Red Idol Prickett.
Personality
Alice is loving and caring. She’s the perfect, and only girl Lewis Carroll likes. Whenever you see her, she will usually be in high spirits, while she can appear to be merciless during some other times. Alice is quite decisive, and she knows what she wants.
Design
Alice has long blonde hair and blue eyes. She has a long white and blue apron dress and a black ribbon on top of it. She has a slender body and nice curves, and she seems to be of average height.
This Alice is using the most popular design of Alice from “Alice in Wonderland” – so you will recognize her immediately whenever you see her.
The Three Alices
The Three Alices are certain variations of Alices present in BS2 that you have to choose at the beginning of your playthrough. There are Mother Alice, Little Sister Alice, and Daughter Alice. They almost look exactly like the regular Alice but there are noticeable features on them that make them still significantly different from the original.
Mother Alice has a big face and narrow eyes, Little Sister Alice has a sharp face and tender eyes, while Daughter Alice has big cutesy eyes and a rounder face. Mother Alice has a ribbon on her head, Little Sister Alice has bunny ears (along with a Black Rabbit pin in her hair), and Daughter Alice has a hair bow (she also has short hair).
There are slight variations in their outfits and significant differences in their body types. Mother Alice is more developed and quite tall, Little Sister Alice’s physique is the closest to the original Alice, and Daughter Alice is very small.
