HomeBLACKSOULSSnow Girl Gerda

Snow Girl Gerda is a character in BLACKSOULS 2 that appears in the DLC3 part of the game. She’s a cute girl you can meet for the first time while she’s walking around the snowy Winter Beach.

She’s based on Gerda from “The Snow Queen”, a fairy tale written by Hans Christian Andersen. Gerda has a storyline with Kai, who’s also from the same fairytale.

Appearances | BS2

Gerda is one of the few characters in the second game that only appears in the DLC3 part of it.

Meeting Gerda

You will most likely encounter Gerda for the first time in the Winter Beach area, where you’ll be able to see her roaming around.

There will be few things you can do to her, but if you decide to just greet her she will be happy to introduce herself to you. Talking to her some more will reveal that she’s searching for her dear friend Kai, who’s a boy of her age who one day ran away without saying anything.

If you tell Gerda you’re going to Alice, she will say that she heard that in school, and that “’Going to Alice’ must be popular in the city”.

She will talk some more about herself, she’s quite cheery and innocent.

You can offer to look for Kai with her, but she will politely reject and go away.

Kill Gerda

If you’re not too fond of Gerda when you meet her for the first time you can instantly kill her, and she will drop an empty fairytale, and you will lose a bit of SEN.

Spaced Out Gerda

When you choose the Unis route and dwell in the Mountains of Madness, after traveling through the mountains you can see Gerda there as well.

Gerda will be spacing out, stating how she hears the crickets calling her. You have to slap her to wake her up otherwise she will just remain confused. When you slap her she will wish you a good morning and tell you how you shouldn’t worry because she has her father’s gun with her. Although, Gerda never shot from her gun.

If you don’t stop Gerda from spacing out and leave her be, when you leave Mountains of Madness and come back she will be missing, because she went towards Dissolution Queen Sho’s residence, and Sho melted her.

Temple Encounter

While still in the White Castletown area, you’re able to get to a Temple with Gerda inside it.

She’ll be talking to Kai, and how she’s glad that she finally found him. So now that she finally can reach him and bring him home, Kai will speak up and say that he isn’t going back.

They will argue for some time but that will come to an end when Gerda pulls the trigger and blows Kai’s head off with her rifle. This will make her fall to the ground, and she’ll start crying, wanting to go back to a world where she can be with Kai.

Gerda will completely break down, and then you will enter a fight with the Snow Queen Gerda.

Fighting the Snow Queen Gerda

When Gerda shoots Kai in the Temple, she will start totally breaking down and will turn into Snow Queen Gerda who will immediately attack you in this demonbeast form.

This fight is difficult. Killing Gerda will give you a lot of souls and The Snow Queen fairytale.

In the Igloo

If you chose the Leiden route you will have to reach the Windless Valley by going through Snowfield. If you search well enough you will find an igloo somewhere in this area, and that’s where you can find Gerda next, only if you interacted with her at the White Beach though.

When you talk to Gerda she’ll remark how it’s cold, and she will ask you if you’re freezing. And if you are freezing and feel cold, you can join Gerda in warming up both of your bodies together. This will initiate an NSFW scene.

After the scene, Gerda will ask you if you have a family. She will say how she had her father whom she loved very much, but then he went outside to hunt so he got attacked by a beast and died. That’s when she had Kai who saved her from loneliness.

After talking a bit more about Kai she will say how the blizzard seems to have settled, and then she will proclaim how she needs to find Kai quickly to save him from the Snow Queen.

Saving Gerda

To save Gerda and have her help you at the fight with Grand Guignol, you need to make sure she’s safe, and that she doesn’t end up in the castle’s Temple with Kai. She will be desperately searching for Kai, but the Kai she will find at the temple is just a “fake” she built out of her desperation.

You must not interact with her at the White Beach and then go straight to White Castletown where you will find an entrance to the Temple. There you will be greeted by a Snowman, who Gerda sees as her lost friend Kai.

Kai's dialogue, 2

The Snowman will ask you to kill it, so Gerda doesn’t go mad when she realizes she can’t bring back Kai. She will manifest the Snowman as her Kai once she sees him.

Kai's dialogue, 4

When you talk to Gerda at the White Beach, and if you met her already in the Mountains of Madness or the Igloo, she will appear for the final time at the Temple in White Castletown.

Gerda will be in the Temple, and she will be devastated that she can’t find Kai anywhere. She will say how he was supposed to be in the Temple, but he isn’t there. You will have a lot of options you can choose to soothe Gerda.

If you tell Gerda to look together, an interesting line of dialogue will appear where Grimm, or probably Andersen who’s inside him, will be talking to Gerda, telling her how we should all together go and look for Kai – that’s when you completely save her, and her fairytale drops, i.e. The Snow Girl.

Personality

Gerda is one of the most innocent characters in the game. She’s a little girl who’s very polite and cheerful. She really likes Kai and she wants to bring him back home with her after he ran away. At times, Gerda can be quite emotionally unstable.

Design

Gerda has blonde hair that’s tied in two braids that are visible on the front side of her body. She’s petite body-wise, and from clothing, she just wears big puffy clothes made for cold winters, these clothes are white and plain. She has a big puffy hat to keep her warm and red gloves.

With her, she carries her father’s rifle.
