Appearances | BS2
Hatta makes her first appearance in the Endless Tea Party area, which is present in BLACKSOULS 2. It’s similar to the Finished Tea Party area, so you may recognize it from there.
Endless Tea Party
At the Endless Tea Party, Hatta will be sitting together with Haigha and Dormouse, she’ll be on the chair furthest to the right.
If you try talking to Hatta you may not understand the things she’s saying at first. She’s kinda mad. If you tell her you’re going to Alice, she’ll ask you why is a raven like a writing-desk – which is a reference to Lewis Carroll’s riddle that the Mad Hatter asks in the Alice books.
Hatta will ask you for your answer, and the other tea party attendees will also participate in the conversation. If you talk to Hatta again, and check what’s the answer to the riddle, she’ll just respond with that she doesn’t know the answer either.
If you talk to Hatta again, she’ll ask you if you’re going further, stating that she won’t stop you. However, she’ll proclaim that she’s a “gossip girl!”. Haigha will then intervene and tell her that she can’t do that because Jubjub told all of them to not let anyone pass. But Hatta will protest by saying a bunch of stuff against her, calling her a “desperate bird, since it lives in perpetual passion”.
Killing Hatta
You can kill Haigha and Doormouse just fine, but if you try to kill Hatta, she’ll just keep reviving herself! You won’t be able to kill her, and she’ll respond with some witty dialogue every time she comes back to life.
You will be able to kill her only if you take her to the Dungeon. She’ll say that she’s “an undead” and that she can’t die, but then she’ll actually die for real.
Covenant
Hatta is one of the characters in the game you can form a covenant with. The covenant with Hatta isn’t too expensive. When you level up her covenant, you’ll be able to kiss her, ask her for services, make love to her, and even buy her hats!
The Hatter’s Hat costs 57000 souls, and it will give you the following stats: MAG+15% along with SPD-2%.
When you’re in the covenant with Hatta you will get increased MAG stats and Madness Resistance. The highest level of the covenant makes the stats go up to MAG+50% and Madness Resistance+100%.
While leveling up her covenant, in one of the dialogues, she’ll say “Jubjub and the savage queen are already a great deal more than enough!” And she’ll basically say that the only things the Hatter needs are the tea party, and a “dreamy gentleman” – she’ll start throwing glances at you to hint at you being her “dreamy gentleman”.
After leveling up her covenant some more, she’ll start talking about how the “Fad-Chaser Hatter is 3000 times sensitive to the trending tea!”. And that “one day we’ll spread the Winterbell tea all around the plane once more!”. But Dormouse will protest that decision, and Haigha will want to spread some other kind of culture instead, which Hatta addresses as “syphilis”, “which is why The Hatter will never do foursomes!!”.
Fighting Hatta the Hatter
If your SEN is low, you will not see Hatta in her usual human form, but rather, she’ll be a monster along with the other tea party attendees.
If you try to kill her, you will initiate a fight with her. She will also instantly summon both Haigha and Dormouse, and they will all attack you together. A fight with all of them at once can appear challenging, but once you finish it you will get plenty of souls and colored souls.
They will die, but Hatta will become alive again, just like she would if you tried killing her while having a high amount of SEN.
If you are very strong, farming the low SEN version of Hatta is nice if you’re looking to get a lot of souls. She’ll always revive herself instantly, so you can really abuse this for farming, but only if you’re strong and patient enough.
DLC3 Appearance
Hatta appears with Haigha in the DLC3 part of the game – in the White Castletown area to be specific, you can get to them once you get off the roof and then head toward the area’s bonfire. You will see the Cheshire Cat next to it.
They will be together sitting on a bench, but it will be only two of them with Dormouse missing.
Haigha will talk about profanities and how she needs a naked man to warm her up in this cold frozen land, and Hatta will just act the same as ever.
Personality
Hatta has an interesting personality. She’s quite eccentric, she can be very random at times, but she’s also very charming. In my opinion, she’s one of the sweetest characters in the game, and she’s very passionate when she needs to be, which just makes me like her even more.
Design
Hatta also has an interesting design. One of the most remarkable features is her left eye that’s almost always covered by her short green hair. She has a very nice suit that aristocracy would wear in Victorian England, and a fancy hat too.
The original character she’s based on is male, but the female role in the game suits her very well. She’s super charming.
