Doctor Blackwell

HomeBLACKSOULSDoctor Blackwell

Doctor Blackwell is a character in BLACKSOULS 2 that appears in a certain part of Lutwidge Town. She’s important for the DLC3 part of the game – you’ll be able to encounter her beforehand in certain parts of the main game.

She’s most likely based on Elizabeth Blackwell, a real-life famous Anglo-American physician, who was friends with Florence Nightingale, who inspired the character of Florence.

Appearances | BS2

Blackwell appears throughout various parts of the main game, and she has a storyline that is important for Florence in DLC3.

Meeting Blackwell

You can find Blackwell for the first time in Lutwidge Town – she’s in a tucked-in area located somewhere below the Mental Ward.

Blackwell will be surprised that you’re not like the other inhabitants of Lutwidge Town, and she will gladly introduce herself to you and ask for your name as well.

She will tell you how she’s a doctor. Allegedly, Blackwell took a nap in her clinic and then when she woke up she found herself in Wonderland, specifically Lutwidge Town, which she doesn’t really like all too much.

You can buy medicine from her – Blackwell’s Blood Vial that restores 70% HP and regular Sedatives that cure Madness.

Blackwell's shop

It isn’t hard to kill Blackwell or send her to the dungeon, she’s weak and old.

Blackwell in the Cathedral

Once you kill the Beast of Distraction on the Dodgson Bridge, Blackwell will be able to instantly move away from Lutwidge Town. She will go to Grand Ripon Cathedral, and there she will be for quite some time at the bonfire.

If you talk to her, she will just complain about her age, although she will be happy she has a nicer place where she can stay. You will no longer be able to buy medicine from her.

After you reach 5 Progression Points, Blackwell will start selling medicine again, and she will also say how eternal life can be attained while mentioning the Serpent God’s doctrine.

Blackwell’s Letter to Florence

When you reach 10 Progression Points and return to Grand Ripon Cathedral, you will find a letter at the place where Blackwell used to be.

The letter is heartwarming and Blackwell seems to be very concerned about Florence, and finding a cure for her disease. She states how she will continue searching for Florence and her illness, forever.

This letter is important for further progression with Florence in the DLC3 part of the game, so you should naturally pick it up.

Personality

Blackwell is a nurse with a lot of work experience. She’s very old in the game, and her age is one of the things that she mentions often. Blackwell is one of the more normal characters in the game and she likes Florence a lot.

Design

The most remarkable thing about Blackwell’s design is her plague doctor mask and brown hat that completely hides her head and face. The rest of her outfit looks rough – she has a worn-out brown cape and some kind of white thigh highs.

If you take her mask off you will see how she has black hair of medium length and an old-looking face. Her body is curvy.
