The Naked King

HomeBLACKSOULSThe Naked King

The Naked King is an enemy that appears in Ashes Reignited in the Chaos Dungeon in BLACKSOULS II. He can appear in the Boss Room in regular Chaos Dungeon levels once you defeat the Old King.

The Naked King is possibly related to the Iron King, a fairytale from the first BLACKSOULS game.

Chaos Dungeon Description

In a certain country, there was a ripped king who loved to train his body. Every day he would parade, showing off his prided muscles to the populace. An odd king he was, but he was respected and even idolized by many.

However, one day the king fell to a deadly disease. The doctors of the land said that it was curable. That is, at the cost of his muscles withering to nothing for the rest of his life.

To that the king responded: “My muscles are my heart. If they are to die, the so should I,” and he refused the treatment. His servants were getting more and more desperate.

They summoned many doctors from many foreign lands. Among them, there was a pair of men who said: “We can cure the king, perfectly, without any harm to his muscles.”

The punchline is, they were frauds. Not knowing that, cornered, the servants had paid them in advance and ordered the cure. And not wanting to lose his muscles the king accepted it. The treatment was a failure.

The king’s skin and flesh withered, and even his organs could be seen from outside. The king was kept alive, but gasping like a bug. The servants were speechless seeing it. By then the quacks were already long gone.

In a quivering voice, the king asked: “Has the treatment succeeded? How are my muscles?”

The servants exchanged glances and slowly said.

“The treatment succeeded. Your muscles are in a glorious state, shining beyond even how they were before the sickness.”

Before the king could say a word, one servant rudely interrupted: “Your highness’ muscles will seem frail only to foolish and incompetent. Truly wise can see that your muscles are the best in the world, envy even of God!”

A lame excuse. A foolish lie. A guillotine awaited them. But, not doubting them even a little, the king believed. Did even his brain degrade? No, not so. The king simply trusted and loved his people from the bottom of his heart.
