Crestfallen Hero is a side character in BLACKSOULS you meet for the first time in the Holy Forest.

If you go talk to the Crestfallen Hero, he will tell you how to reach the Lost Empire which is an important area for progression in the game. He will tell you to go visit Dorothy before that. He’s also quite depressed.
The Crestfallen Hero will tell you about the Demonic Princesses after you kill the Knight in Armor. He will talk about the gate being blocked by a barrier that you can only go through if you have the souls of the four Demonic Princesses.
That’s what “broke” the Crestfallen Hero, he wasn’t able to get past the gate and he even lost his friends in the process. You can ask him more about the Demonic Princesses and he will say what he knows about them, saying that he heard all that from his friend, a sorcerer, and that if the princesses die the world will be saved.
When you kill the four Demonic Princesses and talk to him again he will be amazed, asking you to forgive him he will tell you you have his respect and that by seeing you he thinks it’s not yet the time to cast away all hope.
The Crestfallen Hero will stop being the Crestfallen Hero and will turn into a Hopeful Hero – he wants to do something as well now, and because of you he remembered the courage he began to forget. So the next time you go to the Gate of Lost Empire he will be at the entrance of Lost Ivern, but this time as Demonbeast Hero.
Fighting the Demonbeast Hero
The Demonbeast Hero is the demonbeast version of the Crestfallen/Hopeful Hero. He will be at the very entrance of Fort Ivern – he looks like a skeleton and he will be hostile once he sees you. He’s not that strong and when you kill him you will get an Ore Slab and a Ring of Reckless Warrior.
Fighting the Crestfallen Hero
If you try to kill the Crestfallen Hero in the Holy Forest you will get into a fight with him. He is easy to defeat and killing him will give you a Black Soul and a Ring of Reckless Warrior.
When you kill the Crestfallen Hero, he will say “Gh, aah……that’s enough now….
I want to return back home……mother……”

The Crestfallen Hero makes a secret appearance in the second BLACKSOULS game, although he’s not alive, but rather, dead. There’s also someone very similar to him in the Mental Ward called the Crestfallen Soldier.
To get to the corpse of the Crestfallen Hero go to the Slaughterhouse, the part of the area where the bonfire is. Make sure you have 0 SEN and then you will suddenly see a door you can open that leads to a small empty room. When you’re in that room make sure you have a high amount of SEN and then you will see the corpse of the Crestfallen Hero.
By searching his corpse you will get the Ring of Reckless Hero.
