(aka Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Madoka Magica)
Madoka is one of the most popular magical girl anime out there, and definitely one of the most stylish out there as well. The story starts with Kaname Madoka and Miki Sayaka who all of a sudden get introduced to a magical cat Kyubey and a new transfer student with rather unclear suspicious intentions.

While in the magical girl genre, this anime is also under the psychological genre. You will see the reason for that after a few episodes in. Kyubey, the magical omnipotent cat, will grant them any wish in exchange for them becoming a magical girl – but be careful what you wish for though.

My favorite thing about Madoka is the art style and the general stylish aesthetic the anime pursues. It’s very avant-garde, to say the least, it’s full of interesting symbolism and that’s even more noticeable in the sequel movies.
