45 Coolest Minecraft House Ideas

HomeMinecraft45 Coolest Minecraft House Ideas

Since the initial release of Minecraft, it was always full of various blocks and decorations you can use to make all sorts of spectacular builds in your world. Building is one of the main aspects of Minecraft after all, and therefore why shouldn’t we take a look into all the cool Minecraft 1.20 house ideas you can use in your world?

I prepared 45 house ideas with video tutorials so you can head right to the creator’s channel if you like one of them.

In my opinion, there’s everything for everyone on this list so I made sure to put them all in certain categories so you can navigate through this article better. Because at the end of the day, everyone in Minecraft needs a house.

Well, almost everyone, unless you’re a nomad.

Minecraft is a beautiful game and the best part about it is the fact you can customize all aspects of it, so feel free to check out some of the texture packs I wrote about. If that sort of thing interests you of course.

Starter Minecraft Houses

This is a selection of starter houses you’d want to build right at the beginning of your Minecraft playthrough!

Classic Starter House

Classic Starter House
Classic Starter House by Avomance

So let’s start with something basic that everyone can afford to build right at the beginning of their playthrough. It’s a simple wooden house with a small wooden roof with front and back sides made of stone bricks. There’s also a nice pond with a small wheat farm where you can put your flowers and sugar cane. Plus there’s some place for barrels to add to the aesthetic and maybe extra storage.

Tall Starter House

Tall Starter House
Tall Starter House by BusyBuilds

This house is a little bit harder to build than the last one primarily because you need to get bricks to achieve its rustic feel, which requires mining clay that’s really annoying to obtain. But nonetheless, this house offers a larger farm and even a small space for your cows, pigs, chickens, or whatever animals you want to keep. It’s quite detailed for a starter house and that makes it look well-made.

Spruce Starter House

Spruce Starter House
Spruce Starter House by BusyBuilds

If you live in taiga, tundra, or any other biome that’s full of spruce trees, then this house is definitely something you should check out. It’s a short stacked spruce wood house decorated with berries, lanterns, and leaves that add to its dark forest aesthetic. Although there isn’t a space for any friendly mobs, you can always change that wheat farm into a mini barn or whatever floats your boat the most.

Forest Starter House

Forest Starter House
Forest Starter House by TapLegend

The next house on this list has a much simpler design than the past few. It’s a two story house decorated with stripped oak logs and lanterns, along with a good looking wooden roof with deepslate tile stairs as its border. I like how this house will stand out in any oak or birch forest, I feel like it’d be best to build it in an area like that rather than in a flat biome like plains.

Fun Starter Houses

This isn’t a single house idea, but rather it’s 5 starter houses that are really minimalistic and something that I doubt most of you would like to build. But if you are looking for a temporary settlement or something fun to try out in your new Minecraft playthrough then you should give one of these “houses” a try. They’re the simplest ideas on this list.

Tent Starter House

If you’re into the campaign aesthetic or just looking for a nomadic type of settlement then you should take a look at this starter wooden tent house. While you can use any type of wood I think the darker shades would go with this type of aesthetic the best. The only problem this house has is that wool may be difficult to obtain for some people at the start of their playthrough, as sheep don’t always spawn too often.

Japanese Minecraft Houses

Are you looking for a house that looks like it’s straight out of an anime or a Japanese live action series? Worry not, here are some of my favorite Minecraft Japanese house ideas.

Classic Japanese House

Are you looking for a traditional Japanese house you can build with the most basic materials? If yes then take a look at this cool house idea! This house perfectly embodies the aesthetic of a traditional Japanese house you’d find everywhere in Japan a few decades ago. In my opinion, this can be a great starter house especially if you want to impress your friends with your building capabilities, as this house doesn’t look ordinary at all.

Japanese Cherry House

Japanese Cherry House
Japanese Cherry House by Stevler

In the past few updates or so, Minecraft has added a bunch of pink decorations and blocks, such as the cherry blossom tree, that make building Japanese traditional houses even better. You can use the cherry tree to perfectly encapsulate the exact Japanese sakura aesthetic that’s present in a lot of media and anime. Also it’s quite an ambitious build and something that’d look nice in everyone’s world.

Cherry Japanese Pagoda

Deepslate tiles are probably one of my favorite Minecraft blocks in the game. I like the color black a lot because it goes with everything, and when building a traditional Japanese cherry tree house, the color black can really add a lot to the build instead of using nether brick stairs or any other similar replacement. Plus this cool house idea has a lot of details that really make the bigger picture worth looking at.

Japanese Estate House

Okay, enough with the cute and ditzy cherry blossom houses, if someone doesn’t like the color pink that much or just wants to switch to something darker, well, take a look at this! This traditional Japanese estate house uses plenty of spruce wood that’s mixed with all sorts of stone decorations. The chains holding the lights are a nice addition and I wish more people used chains in their builds because they’re such an aesthetic.

Small Japanese House

This traditional Japanese Minecraft house is different from others not necessarily by its design, but by its size. It’s a house made of darker wood like spruce, and I’m pretty sure you can also use dark oak, mixed with the beautiful deepslate tiles that just blend in perfectly with almost any Minecraft build you can think of. If this house is too small for you, take a look at the previous one on this list because it’s just like this one but much larger.

Charming Japanese House

This Japanese house is probably my favorite one on this list. I love how it uses a lot of stripped mangrove logs and spruce wood mixed with deepslate tiles and all other tiny details that there are too many to individually mention. The bamboo is also a nice addition because it adds to the feeling and the aesthetic of Japan. This house is the perfect example of how beautiful oriental architecture can look in Minecraft!

Modern Minecraft Houses

Are you looking for a modern Minecraft house that’s pretty but also unique? If that’s the case I prepared some of the modern house ideas I thought looked really nice and worth building.

Classic Modern House

Classic Modern House

The first design we have on this list really represents what an ideal upper-class family home looks like. It’s made completely out of white concrete mixed with deesplate tiles and various types of wood. I like the huge window in the room on the upper floor – if you break it you can easily jump into the small pool that’s basically under it. The garage is also a neat touch.

Lavish Pool House

Lavish Pool House
Lavish Pool House by HALNY

Now if you’re looking to build something more simple and professional, look forward to using this cool modern house idea in your Minecraft world. It has a large pool and a fence that doesn’t really prevent anyone from entering but it looks nice in retrospect. The house is full of windows so you’ll always have daylight bursting into your house, or you’ll be able to always stare at the beautiful starry night, especially if you have a neat texture pack for something like that.

Dark Rustic Modern House

Dark Rustic Modern House
Dark Rustic Modern House by KillRogg

Are you tired of modern Minecraft houses always being white and bright? I’m too, believe me, so that’s why I made sure to add a couple of darker aesthetics to this list of modern house ideas. It’s quite expensive because you’ll need a little bit over 1000 gray concrete and a lot of jungle wood. Honestly, I’m surprised someone finally found a good way to implement jungle wood into their build, because I personally dislike seeing it anywhere.

Calm Modern House

Calm Modern House

This is another classic modern Minecraft house design that doesn’t incorporate a lot of details but its compactness is what makes it truly special. It has a small pool and a practical interior – it’s great for decorative purposes but if you’re actually looking to live and have your playthrough in this house I wouldn’t recommend it unless you build a basement or something where you can put your extra storage.

Ultimate Modern House

Now if you want to put in a lot of effort and are ready to take a step further to decorate your Minecraft world with a modern looking house that can even suit more people, take a look at this ultimate modern house idea! It has 3 stories and it doesn’t feature a big porch you can do a lot of things on, it’s mostly focused on looking powerful and robust, keeping the player completely safe from any nighttime intruders such as zombies or skeletons.

Large Dark Rustic Modern House

Large Dark Rustic Modern House

And the last house on this list will be another black modern house idea that’s similar to the other one I covered on this list. They’re even made by the same guy, but they’re fairly different as this one has a large stone part in the middle that separates the house into 2 parts and the rest of the structure is a little bit different. It’s my favorite one of all the modern houses I put on this list.

Medieval Minecraft Houses

Tired of modernity and want to return to tradition? Then look no further as these medieval Minecraft house ideas will make sure all of your middle age fantasies are fulfilled.

Ultimate Medieval House

If you’re not looking for a house that only looks good but also serves a good security purpose that it could be a base, then see this. I think this is my favorite one on the medieval house list, mostly because of the tower that’s attached to it – I’m a sucker for things like that and it just adds to the medieval aesthetic. It’s not too expensive to build and it looks really powerful, especially if seen from a distance.

Medieval Clocktower Mansion

Medieval Clocktower Mansion

Time for another robust ultimate Minecraft medieval house idea that’ll be liked the most by those who appreciate the steampunk aesthetic a lot. This house features a clock tower, and it’s more of a mansion than a house really, but I felt compelled to include it in this list solely because of how well it was pulled off with such accessible materials. Which is probably one of the best things about medieval houses in general.

Small Medieval House

Small Medieval House

If you want to get more creative and try out something generally a little bit different, then you should give this medieval house a try. It’s full of interesting various wood and stone combinations that are just made for each other. I personally really like the chimney even though it’s a small detail, along with the stone brick platform with which you can go to another floor of this house.

Large Wooden House

Large Wooden House
Large Wooden House by Lex The Builder

This large medieval Minecraft house idea is for those who feel like building something big in the medieval style that’s not a castle. It’s full of interesting details like the little tower that’s connected to it, along with the hanging flag and the open hallway that’s on the second floor. It really could also make a big inn or a town hall because of it’s size and it’s feel

Starter Medieval House

And now if you’re tired of all the grandiose medieval house ideas or just want to feel like a mystical wizard or a potion brewer then this small starter medieval house is something you should look into. It’s small, compact and cute! What else do you need other than that? Plus you have a cute tower you can jump onto to examine the surroundings or just shoot arrows at people. It’s a really fun house design in my opinion.

Cottagecore Minecraft Houses

Do you want to feel like a fairy, or a magical girl hiding in the woods? Or maybe you just want to be cute and mysterious – if any of those is the case, these ideas are something you’ll definitely like.

Along with these cottagecore house ideas I prepared, there’s also an article I wrote on fun builds that could go along with them.

Also, here are the resource packs these creators used in their videos so you can have an exact copy of their house in your Minecraft world, along with the custom items and other accessories:

Aesthetic Cottagecore House

My favorite thing about this cottagecore house idea is the little glass garden that’s attached to the house. It’s really cute and goes so well with the combination of wood used in making this house, also the leaves placed on the house’s roof make a beautiful decoration. The house is also pretty big and practical, while also maintaining its fairy-like feel and coziness.

Simple Cottagecore House

Simple Cottagecore House

Here’s another Minecraft cottagecore house idea similar to the previous one on this list. This one has even more greenery and nature that spans inside the house and the little farm to the left is such a cute detail too. The roof is quite simple, and the materials for this house are pretty cheap, just get your shears ready to gather all those leaves and plants needed for this build.

Dark Aesthetic House

Now let’s move away from the solely wooden cottagecore houses with this beautiful choice that uses plenty of white concrete with dark oak stairs which look so beautiful with the texture pack I mentioned at the start of the cottagecore selection. The little porch area is also so cute and the fence is so neat under this texture pack – you can really feel the pretty aesthetic this house brings (just like all other cottagecore houses on this list!).

Tea Pot House

Tea Pot House
Tea Pot House by cupxcakezys

This is definitely my favorite and the most creative (in my opinion at least) Minecraft cottagecore house idea on this list. It’s a literal giant teapot with a beautiful interior done by using CIT (custom item textures) that are linked at the start of this section. It’s really incredible how beautiful Minecraft has become and how creative people can be – both builders and texture makers.

Ultimate Dark Aesthetic House

Do you want to build something bigger in the cottagecore aesthetic? Or maybe you have an elf family you want to move into a cute place – if that or anything similar is the case, make sure to check out this huge cottagecore house that’s perfect for any occasion and not difficult to make. I really like how the dark and light colors are blended in together, along with a bunch of leaf decorations and the cutesy texture pack fence.

Rustic Aesthetic House

And the last cottagecore house on this list is quite rustic, and in my opinion perfect if you love horses or keeping any kind of animal around. For some reason I feel like animal lovers will like this house the most. It’s compact and practical, with a ton of decorations and little details that make it so special. Also, there’s space for you to make a mini-barn so you can give your animal friends a nice place to stay.

Also, if you’re interested in more cottagecore house ideas, you can find them here.

Nether Minecraft Houses

The Nether update gave us so many blocks and decorations that make creating Nether themed builds more fun than ever in the entire history of Minecraft!

Classic Nether House

Classic Nether House
Classic Nether House by Frowzy

Looking for something quick yet magical to build with the new Nether blocks you acquired during your expedition in the Nether? Look no further than this simple Minecraft Nether house idea that looks like it came from another world (technically it did)! It’s simple and nice, it doesn’t have to be your permanent base but it’s something you can use for an enchanting table room or a potion brewing station.

Small Blackstone Fortress

Small Blackstone Fortress
Small Blackstone Fortress by TheMythicalSausage

Let’s get more creative.. and more evil! Well, let’s not get literally evil but rather let’s build something that looks evil and ominous. I always wondered, why do evil things look so cool? That’s the case with this blackstone fortress as well! It looks epic but you’re not a bad person for building it in your Minecraft world, it’s good to have it as a temporary settlement in your Minecraft world.

A Nether Base

A Nether Base
A Nether Base by AvidPixels

Now this has to be one of the coolest Minecraft house ideas I have seen in a while. I have to admit I really am a sucker for these types of houses but they look cool only in the Nether though, maybe sometimes End but this type of aesthetic is, in my opinion at least, specifically reserved for the Nether dimension.

Ultimate Nether House

Ultimate Nether House
Ultimate Nether House by BlueBits

If you want to build a really big Nether house, I think this design is something you should strive for. The interior itself is big and practical for actually living inside this place, and my favorite thing about this design is the fact that its creator decided to attach a nether portal to it, but in a way that fits the structure of this house so well.

Small Nether Crimson House

Small Nether Crimson House

Honestly, I never thought I’d see such a well done modern Nether house like this one – even though it’s small it looks unique and the design is fun and pretty. In my opinion, this can be incorporated in any dimension just because of how the purple color blends in nicely with everything.

Treehouse Minecraft Houses

Are you a monkey, or do you just prefer living in high places where nobody can reach you? Regardless of those things, here are some fun Minecraft treehouse ideas that may interest you.

Easy And Simple Treehouse

Easy And Simple Treehouse
Easy And Simple Treehouse by Capy Builds

Let’s start with a classic oak tree wooden house you can build basically anywhere in your Minecraft world just because of how common that type of tree is. Out of all the oak treehouse designs I saw, I think this one is by far the most simple to make while still looking like it was put a lot of effort into it.

Classic Oak Treehouse

Classic Oak Treehouse
Classic Oak Treehouse by Lex The Builder

If you’re ambitious and want to have a big place to live in while still being on a tree far from the ground and away from the hostilities of the Overworld, you should consider choosing this design for your treehouse. It’s made from oak like the last one and that means you can easily gather the materials for it, just make sure to have enough shears so you can get enough leaves for the house.

Cherry Blossom Treehouse

Cherry Blossom Treehouse
Cherry Blossom Treehouse by SheepGG

If you want to feel like a princess or have something incredibly cute as your treehouse, you should take a look at this cherry blossom Minecraft tree house. I love how this takes advantage of the cherry blossom tree’s wideness. The little house on top of all those leaves has windows as its walls and I think the overall concept is just so well thought out. You’ll be feeling like Rapunzel up in there.

Fantasy Treehouse Cottage

Fantasy Treehouse Cottage
Fantasy Treehouse Cottage by Jax and Wild

On the other hand, if you want something more fairy-like and magical then you should take a look at this fantasy cottagecore treehouse. It’s built with so many different blocks and how they blend together is so incredible to me. It looks like something out of a fairytale and I love how both the house’s and the tree’s shape really stand out in comparison to other designs.

Beginner Jungle Treehouse

Beginner Jungle Treehouse
Beginner Jungle Treehouse by LennyRandom

Obviously, it’s impossible to find a list of Minecraft treehouse ideas without encountering a treehouse built in the jungle biome. The jungle biome’s huge trees by default are a great prop for building treehouses and all sorts of airborne bases. I adore this treehouse idea mostly because it looks like a Wookie house from Star Wars – it has a really similar feel to it.

Survival Jungle Treehouse

Survival Jungle Treehouse
Survival Jungle Treehouse by Mr Mirror

And to end the list of treehouse ideas here’s another jungle house floating in the air. It’s quite simple like the last one, and it’s nice to build as soon as you find that jungle biome in your Minecraft world. I’d use it as a temporary station, or maybe a place to put my nether portal if I’m using Nether as my main travel method.

Underground Minecraft Houses

If you value total security or just want to totally isolate yourself from everyone and everything then you should become a hermit and build one of the Minecraft houses from this list!

Underground Bunker House

Underground Bunker House
Underground Bunker House by Goldrobin

The first one is simple and small, perfect for the beginning of your playthrough. The entrance of the house looks more like an entrance to a mine than to a house but I personally like that a lot – the interior is so cozy that I would stay in it forever if I could.

Compact Underground House

Compact Underground House
Compact Underground House by MarchiWORX

Now this design is more simple to make than the last one and it goes into less detail, but still, if you don’t want to put too much effort into a place you’ll move from soon enough, this is definitely for you. I like how the roof is made of glass so you can see without a problem what time of the day it is, and maybe stare at the beautiful night sky if you have a fancy texture pack on.

Ultimate Underground House

Ultimate Underground House
Ultimate Underground House by Blockical

This underground house is good for those who like to keep things simple and organized well enough so they never get lost anywhere. It doesn’t require a lot of effort to be built and it has a glass roof which is also a nice addition. It looks interesting when looked at from outside, or from a bird’s perspective.

Small Underground House

Small Underground House
Small Underground House by Nanaroid

This underground Minecraft house is more modern than the previous two on the list and it has a nice simplistic look to it. I like how cool it looks when looked at from the outside and that’s honestly the main thing that attracted me to it. You can fit anything you need into it, and even make additional floors if you decide to stay there long-term.

Ultimate Underground Base

Ultimate Underground Base
Ultimate Underground Base by SheepGG

Now if you’re looking to spice things up with a bigger underground house then you should take a look at this build and make it in your Minecraft world. It’s nice, big and you can easily fit a lot of things in it without a problem. I like how there’s a bridge that connects to the path that goes over the house, it adds to the build and makes it less bland.

More Minecraft houses

And if any of these houses don’t particularly interest you, well, that’s perfectly fine!

There’s this one really good site called Grabcraft where you can search for all sorts of Minecraft houses and other builds.

You can use their search option to easily navigate through the article and look at all really fun designs that are not only houses.

So yeah, feel free to use that if this article leaves you unsatisfied – they have their official guide on how to use their so called blueprints.

Thank you for reading, bye bye.
