Berserk Watch Order Guide

Anime and mangaBerserk Watch Order Guide

Over the last few decades, a lot of animated Berserk content has come out. From the infamous Berserk 2017 anime to the original one from 1997 and the movie trilogy. The adaptation of the series has certainly come a long way – as it’s one of the most recognized and loved manga of all time.

Certainly one of the best franchises in the dark fantasy genre, Berserk really has great storytelling, even better art, and compelling characters. The story isn’t all about Guts, and I’m sure anyone can relate at least to one of the personalities present in the story.

And that’s why I love Berserk so much!

So if you’re wondering how to watch it in order, it’s quite simple.

For the full experience, I’d recommend you to read the manga first because the adaptations leave a lot of important details and things you don’t want to miss.

But if you’re an only anime fan then follow this watch order:

  • Berserk (1997)
  • Berserk: The Golden Age Arc I – The Egg of the King
  • Berserk: The Golden Age Arc 2 – The Battle for Doldrey
  • Berserk: The Golden Age Arc 3 – The Advent
  • Berserk (2017)
  • Berserk: The Golden Age Arc – Memorial Edition

Important note: The Golden Age Arc movies are only optional as they’re just modernized recap versions of the Berserk anime from 1997.

If you’re not too invested in the series watch it like this:

  • Berserk (1997)
  • Berserk (2017)
  • Berserk: The Golden Age Arc – Memorial Edition

My favorite Berserk anime adaptations are the ones from 1997 and 2017. The rest didn’t leave a big impression on me and they kinda feel generic. Also, if you’re skeptical about whether Berserk 2017 is good or not, I made a post about whether it’s worth watching or not! (imo it is)
