12 Most Fun Minecraft Zombie Apocalypse Mods

HomeMinecraft12 Most Fun Minecraft Zombie Apocalypse Mods

For some reason, Minecraft is a game that serves as an unbelievably perfect example of a game that’d fit a zombie apocalypse scenario. That may be because of how the main enemy of the game are the zombies and other scary monsters, but it also may be due to the simple block setting that makes it so easily customizable.

Minecraft is already creepy enough on its own, so why not make it even more intense and creepier with these zombie apocalypse mods?

Zombie Awareness

To make zombies in Minecraft more sentient you should look forward to downloading this mod. This mod will make zombies aware of the blood scents players can have, which means that if you get hurt you’ll bleed and that’ll attract them. Zombies with this mod pay extra attention to sound and sometimes they’ll be wandering through the wild in hordes searching for their future prey (which may include you).

Tissou’s Zombie Pack

Vanilla Minecraft zombie textures are quite boring and get very stale after a while. That’s why I included this texture pack (which doesn’t count as a mod but oh well), which adds to the game more than 1000 different zombie textures. They visually have a pretty distinct feel from one another and they’re actually really good textures that can go well with any Minecraft aesthetic.

Simple Flashlight Port

There’s nothing better than being that one guy with a badass flashlight during a zombie apocalypse. Even though the chances you’ll actually experience this in real life are low, in Minecraft you can now do it with this mod. With this mod you get a cool flashlight you can use to light up the area. If you don’t want to hold it in your main hand you can put it in your other one so you can protect yourself if a zombie attacks you.

K-Turrets

Turrets are pretty cool. And in times of a zombie apocalypse, there’s a high possibility you may need one at a certain point to defend your base from zombies or even players if someone’s looking out to get you. They’re a great safety measure and there’s a wide variety of them.

Flan’s Mod: Reloaded

To defend yourself from all the hostile zombies and maybe even players (if you’re in multiplayer), it’s best to get Flan’s Mod: Reloaded as your primary guns mod. It’s a remastered version of the classic Flan’s Mod that has a long history of being one of the most sophisticated gun mods in Minecraft. If you want to play in a version this mod doesn’t support, check out the legacy edition then!

We Got Runners!

Another great mod to make zombies more aggressive is We Got Runners! Not only will your zombies be faster, but they’ll also act more like the zombies you can see in The Walking Dead for example. This mod really makes the aesthetic much more authentic and it’s scary to see how Minecraft zombies act with this mod on. It’s really fun too.

Dehydration

To make things even harder than they already are, a great addition to your Minecraft zombie apocalypse world would be a mod that adds thirst to the game. Instead of just scavenging for food you’ll be also forced to always be on the lookout for clean water because if you’re not hydrated, you’ll be at risk of dehydrating to death (just like in real life).

The Lost Cities

A zombie apocalypse in the classic Minecarft wilderness would kinda feel off, wouldn’t it? That’s why I had to include The Lost Cities mod into this list because it adds abandoned modern-looking cities that are randomly generated throughout the entire world. They’re a creepy addition to the Minecraft zombie apocalypse world and you can even use the abandoned structures as your own sanctuary.

First Aid

To make things even harder I think the best choice is to put the First Aid mod into your game. This game replaces the default health system with 8 different health regions that are scattered throughout your entire body. Your head, body, legs, and feet are all vulnerable and have their own health bars. Certain damage to certain parts of the body causes certain debuffs and it completely changes how armor works too.

Combat Roll

My favorite part about Dark Souls games is the ability to roll. For some reason, I feel like that really suits a realistic zombie apocalypse scenario because it gives you extra mobility in the game and it kinda feels like a thing out of The Walking Dead. Not to mention how cool would it be to roll while doing parkour or stuff like that. It’s a really fun Minecraft mod regardless of the zombie apocalypse scenario.

Ultimate Car Mod

An important thing that vanilla Minecraft lacks is cars. Even though we’ll probably never get cars in Minecraft, this mod solves that problem by adding tons of cars and roads you can make for various different purposes. It’s a fun mod and it can be very useful especially if you’re playing with mods that make your game quite more difficult.

Security Craft

When an apocalypse starts there’ll be no rules and it’ll be a completely different world that’s free for all. You can’t always be on guard and sometimes you have to leave your home to go scavenging for food or whatever. That’s why Security Craft will make sure your base is equipped with the best security mechanisms that’ll protect your loved ones and items from any dangers that may want to disturb them.
