Clay bricks are just one type of brick block in Minecraft and crafting them can sometimes be a difficult thing for the new players. Before crafting the brick blocks, you have to smelt clay balls in a furnace in order to get the brick item.
After that, make sure you get 4 bricks and put them in a 2×2 position on the crafting table, just like in the image below.
