One of the reasons why I love Minecraft so much is because of all the ways the game can be customized. Minecraft most definitely has one of the best communities in gaming with how much effort they put into texture packs, mods, maps, data packs, and all other downloadable content you can stuff in your game.
If you’re new to the game, you’ll probably not know how to install mods into the game because Minecraft doesn’t really tell you how to do so. And it’s not so simple as it is to install texture packs into the game, but don’t worry, because in reality it’s much simpler than it sounds and you’ll get used to it rather quickly.
So to put mods into Minecraft, you’ll first need to install Minecraft Forge, which is a special version of the game like OptiFine that allows you to put mods into the game and run them smoothly.
How to Install Minecraft Forge
So, where can you download and install Forge?
It’s quite simple really, so all you need to do is just follow the following steps:
- Go to Forge’s official website, and on the left, you can see all the versions Forge is available in, while on the main page, you’ll have download links for the latest version of the game. I always download the recommended version, and that’s what you’ll also want to go with. So click on the Installer button to download the file.
- When you open the file you downloaded, choose the Install Client option if it isn’t chosen yet and make sure that directory to your .minecraft folder is correct, which will usually be the case so in short, don’t do anything and just click the Ok button.
- Good job! You have Forge installed – just make sure you set up the right profile for the Forge version in your Minecraft Launcher when you want to launch the Forge version of the game.
How to Put Mods into the Game
If you have Forge installed and don’t know how to put mods into the game, then follow these few short steps:
- Press the Windows key on your keyboard and R at the same time
- Type %appdata%\.minecraft and press enter
- There you’ll want to create a new folder called “mods”
- And voila, that’s pretty much it. All you have to do now is put mods into that folder and just launch the game with Forge and you can already play them without a problem. The process is quite short, isn’t it?
