Minecraft looks very friendly but if you’re playing in singleplayer a lot you will notice how scary the game actually is. It has some mystique behind it that I can’t really explain because you will know what I’m talking about when you feel it. For example, while exploring the empty landscapes where you’re the only alive human in the entire world, or just being alone in an empty cave by yourself.
All these experiences can be made even scarier as these scariest Minecraft mods will make your game utterly terrifying.

ConRad’s Scary Spiders

Most people are afraid of spiders, even though they’re so cute! I doubt anyone will agree with me but this mod will add them into the game and it’s quite scary. So if you have arachnophobia I’d suggest you not have this in your game. These spiders are pretty cool, you can find them in all biomes and they’re quite sneaky.
Cave Dweller Reimagined

If you want to have some company while mining in Minecraft, I’d suggest you download this mod. It adds to the game a certain entity that isn’t too friendly towards the player, and honestly, I’d close my game if I ever saw this in a cave. It makes the game more intense as the being alone is quite strong and ready to hunt you down at all costs. So either avoid the caves or face your fears!
Whispers of the Wendigo

Wendigos are really cool and they’re one of the scariest folklore creatures out there. This Wendigo is based on the real-life tale of Wendigos, and now you can even have them in Minecraft! They can appear in taiga biomes and when they see you they will start stalking you – they’re like an obsessive yandere girlfriend but instead of being a girl they’re a monster. There’s plenty of surprising stuff you can find in this mod.
Dark Waters

Oceans are scary in real life, but not so much in Minecraft. So what do you think about making Minecraft’s oceans a much darker place than they are? This mod will add plenty of horrifying ocean monster-like creatures that aim to kill you and stop you from going back ever again in there. They will spawn only during storms, so you have the time to get prepared.
Nyctophobia

If you’re seeking some good horror exploration in Minecraft then you should get this mod because it adds new biomes with horrifying stuff in them. The stuff within these scary biomes is waiting for you to be revealed – there’s everything from visible ruins to bloody ponds, and hidden secrets you need to find. Come prepared.
Beware The Rain

Rain in Minecraft is a little bit ominous but it can’t be called scary or anything like that. That’s why this mod makes sure you never want to leave your house again in Minecraft while it’s raining. It will add 4 new horrifying mods that will only spawn during the rain, and they’re quite unique in their behavior and oddly irritating to deal with. They’re so frightening you’ll always feel some kind of pressure when the rain starts falling.
Sanity: Descent Into Madness

This Minecraft horror mod adds an interesting concept of sanity to the game which can completely alter how you see everything in the game. If your sanity is getting low, you will start becoming schizophrenic and your gameplay will be significantly changed to the point where your own delusions will start attacking you. It’s really fun and horrifying to deal with something like this.
Horror Elements

To make your Minecraft structure generation in the world more interesting you should take a look at this mod. It adds over 60+ custom horror elements that can randomly spawn in your world along with unique blocks and custom structures to accompany them. It makes the world feel more threatening and the horror element it brings with itself is quite significant, especially if mixed with other mods on this list.
Tenebrous Lands

It’s amazing how detailed and gruesome the scary creatures of this mod look. It adds plenty of horrifying mods that are very unique in their design. Be careful when exploring new structures and don’t forget to use all the cool sorts of weapons that come with this mod – because you’ll need those giant swords and scythes to kill such strong enemies! It’s really cool.
From The Fog

Do you need some company in your Minecraft world? I sometimes feel like I do so I will most definitely install this Minecraft mod to have Herobrine stalk me everywhere I go! He will haunt you, taunt you, and do everything to make you afraid. It brings the original concept of Herobrine to life and at times it’s not pleasant at all.
The Hollow

Another great mod for making your cave exploration experience in the game much better is this one! It will add a lot of new ores you can find all sorts of things you can craft from them. The aesthetic is pretty nice and the payoff is pretty nice when you survive one of the scary creatures you can find in the caves of this mod.
Deep Dark: Regrowth

To be honest, the Deep Dark biome in Minecraft is kinda lame, and the potential for everything that can be added there is huge. Thankfully enough, this Minecraft mod takes care of that and makes sure you can find all sorts of new things down there. It significantly expands the Deep Dark, by adding new mobs, items, armor, and whatnot! It’s really good and probably one of my favorite Minecraft mods ever.
Gardens of the Dead

By looking at the name of the mod you can maybe guess what it is about. This scary Minecraft horror mod adds to the game two new biomes in the Nether which are basically gardens of the dead. They’re barren wastelands that are quite aesthetic and have a nice scary ambiance. Along with this horror mod, you will also get new plants and decorative blocks.
The Irritator (Dweller)

Imagine if the cave dweller escaped from the caves onto the surface. That’s basically what this horror mod is about. The Irritator is a huge lanky white monster that will start searching for you once the night falls. You can clearly hear it before he comes to you, and if you manage to find him in the cave then you’re going to really regret it. Nights will be much harder and much more intense than before.
Horror Cryptid: Sasquatch (Bigfoot)

To make your forest explorations scary you should definitely get this Minecraft horror mod. It will add Bigfoot into the game and he will only appear in the Old Growth Pine Taiga biome where you can even find what happened to those who didn’t manage to escape him. Exploring this area can be quite cool if you’re prepared to take him down, and it can be quite terrifying if you accidentally stumble upon it.
Doctor Who – Weeping Angels

Have you ever watched Doctor Who? If you did then you probably remember the Weeping Angels and how scary they were, and yeah, this Minecraft mod adds them into the game. For those who don’t know well angels are ancient beings almost as old as the universe itself – taking the form of angel statues, they will only move if you stop looking at them. So if you don’t want to die, make sure you don’t blink in their presence. They will appear when you least expect them.
