16 Most Fun Minecraft Modpacks

I love modpacks. Throughout the entire history of Minecraft, I played a whole lot of modpacks and enjoyed the majority of them. It’s really fascinating to see how well so many mods can go together and create such a unique experience it starts looking less and less like the original Minecraft. The sheer ability to customize everything, and to even create your own modpack is what I love about this game a lot.

I prepared some of the most fun Minecraft modpacks. Or at least the modpacks that I found the most fun. This list isn’t in any order and I’m sure most of you reading this will find at least one thing you can appreciate and enjoy. Some of these are quite old while others are recent, but nonetheless, all of them are very fun and worth trying out.

Crash Landing

Released in 2015, Crash Landing still is one of the most fun and harsh modpacks out there. This modpack is about pure survival as it’s about you crashing on a dry planet with barely any resources in the middle of space. As the sun is hitting you directly with its beams, you can also notice this mod features the thirst game mechanic, which means you’re not going to have to scavenge for food, but also for water. Get ready for a lot of surprises and fun and interesting quests this modpack offers.

Peace of Mind

Not all Minecraft modpacks have to be intense and packed with action. Some people enjoy more peaceful ways of playing Minecraft, where they don’t have to fight and can just proceed with building, crafting, exploring, and all other fun activities Minecraft has to offer. That’s why Peace of Mind will completely relax you as it’s meant to be played on the peaceful difficulty – where you get to peacefully explore countless new mods added to the game along with fun quests to keep you entertained.

Sky Factory 4

Is SkyBlock too boring for you? Or maybe it’s not even that challenging for you, well, if that’s the case, you should look into Sky Factory 4 for one of the best-modded skyblock Minecraft experiences. With complex systems of full automation, tech, and magic, this modpack is packed with unique recipes, advancements, and all other fun and interesting stuff that’ll have you hooked playing for hours and hours on end. It’s really fun and definitely worth looking into.

Ultimate Alchemy

Similar to the Peace of Mind modpack, Ultimate Alchemy is here to serve you the full enjoyment of Minecraft through a more peaceful and relaxed way of playing. This mod is perfectly soothed for roleplay and people who just want to indulge in the sheer creativity this mod offers to you. The mod itself isn’t that challenging and it’s really fun and interesting content-wise. Perfect for those who don’t want to take Minecraft too seriously. 

Stoneblock 2

Mining is a crucial part of Minecraft and an even more crucial part of Stoneblock 2. That’s why this modpack settles you in a new and unique world made out of only stone – you spawn underground and it’s on you to progress further and go through a countless number of quests and adventures this new world has for you. This modpack is mostly for those who like mining and being underground – exploration is really fun, and modded mining in Minecraft is something everyone should experience.

GT New Horizons

GTNH is one of the most impressive modpacks out there that completely revamps the entire Minecraft experience with its unique system of ages of technology. From medieval to steampunk, and later to futuristic new dimension exploring, this modpack is difficult and not soothed for those who are new to Minecraft. It has over 3000 quests so there’s plenty of stuff to do and surely you’ll never get bored. It’s quite impressive honestly how they pulled this off.

Fear Nightfall

Looking for a terrifying creepypasta-like horror aesthetic? Then take a look at Fear Nightfall which is one of the most terrifying and well-done aesthetic horror modpacks. Full of custom content and even a special shader pack made for this modpack, Fear Nightfall will give you a unique experience that’s much much different from the original Minecraft (which is on its own scary enough). There’s a campaign in this modpack so you never get really lost, but have fun running from an entity that even corrupted the Aether.

RLCraft

Since Minecraft is fairly easy even while on the hard difficulty and the hardcore mode is just annoying, to make Minecraft literally miserable you should definitely strive towards downloading RLCraft. This is one of the most fun modpacks you can play in multiplayer but it’s also really hard because it makes Minecraft ridiculous in a way that I wouldn’t want to spoil for you. But it’s also one of the best RPG Minecraft modpacks you can find there.

Pixelmon

Do you love Pokémon? If yes, then you should download the Pixelmon Modpack for the best Pokémon experience in Minecraft. The Pixelmon Modpack features the original Pixelmon Mod as well as some other mods that’ll just fulfill the already great enough Pokémon experience in Minecraft. The Modpack alone has over 12 million downloads and there are even Pixelmon servers where you can catch Pokémon with other people.

SteamPunk [LPS]

Prominence II

Looking for a classy nostalgic RPG adventure? Then look no further than Prominence II! With an interest in custom talent tree and a “handcrafted design” this mod will definitely exceed your expectations as it completely flips Minecraft on its head to create a literal functioning RPG game with such a unique look and aesthetic – I adore it so much. There’s plenty of stuff to do and a lot of bosses to fight and the endgame is quite exciting. There’s even an official server where you can team up with others and have fun with this awesome modpack.

Crafting Dead

Crafting Dead is one of the most classic zombie apocalypse modpacks out there and in my opinion one of the best. People who love The Walking Dead will also definitely love this classic experience as it adds so many unique game mechanics like thirst and base building, plus it features very fun guns and gun modifications. The amount of custom items is also so cool and the entire aesthetic is one of the most unique things you can find in Minecraft.

Crazy Craft

Crazy Craft is one of the first encounters I ever had with Minecraft modpacks and it was really memorable. The amount of mayhem that comes with this mod is so chaotic and good that you can spend 100s of hours on this mod without feeling bored as there’s always something to do and there’s always something to explore or fight. It’s crazy, just like the name suggests, as there are over 500 new creatures, 5 new dimensions, 100 new biomes, and over 250 epic mods to break your psyche.

Tekkit Classic Reloaded

Tekkit Classic is one of the best modpacks to ever exist. Full of technology, industry, and all other interesting concepts you can navigate through – the feeling and aesthetic Tekkit Classic, now Tekkit Classic Reloaded, has is completely unique and something that’s worth checking out. I remember playing the original modpack back in the day and it really left a strong impression on me with how well-designed it is. 

Clouds of Darkness 2

Clouds of Darkness 2 is one of another great and old Minecraft modpacks with a really unique aesthetic you can’t really experience anywhere else. It would be best to describe it as SkyBlock with a much darker and sinister aesthetic that hides many mysteries behind it. The most fun thing about this modpack is the quest system which gives you a fun line of progression you can follow while enjoying the aesthetic. It would be best to play this modpack with a texture pack that fits this dark aesthetic.

SevTech: Ages

One of the things I find the most satisfying in all video games is progression and unlocking things, and that’s why I like SevTech: Ages a lot. Initially, you start with nothing and then as you progress further you get to unlock more and more items, recipes, blocks, and new features through this complex advancement system which starts at the stone age – and ends in space! It’s really fun, especially with friends. The creator really found a great way to make exploration and discovery more fun than it was ever before.
